[nggallery id=3]We are very proud to be displaying photographs by our friend and neighbor, Joan Damiani, throughout the restaurant.
In 1965 Joan Damiani graduated with an MA from New York University. She relocated to Columbia County, affording herself the opportunity to pursue her artistic vision on a full time basis. Based on her approach that vision dictates media, Joan’s work might be in oil, ink, or photography. “My art captures the daily complexities of life; from children on a beach to young executives in Boston, to a 1934 Packard in the junk yard, to a piazza in Southern Italy that survived earthquakes and wars, but where time still stops to water the geraniums and feed the cats.”
Joan’s well of inspiration can come from Boston’s North End or Italy’s outdoor markets or the tugs and freighters of the Hudson River. “Wherever I am, I am moved by the sensation of life. I want to stir something in you that says, ‘Yes, I noticed that, I just forgot to remember.'”
To see more of Joan’s work, visit the J. Damiani Gallery at 237 Warren Street, Hudson.
